Brown County Indiana Convention & Visitors Bureau Executive Director
Summary:
Direct all operations of the Brown County Convention and
Visitors Bureau (“CVB”). Oversee all tourism marketing and programs of the
Bureau including sales, marketing, public relations, and visitor services.
Responsible for developing and implementing programs, processes, and
procedures to achieve the bureau’s strategic goals and objectives as defined
by the CVB board. Lead and develop bureau staff. Work closely with vendors
and service provider partners. Serve as the community point of contact for
all bureau activities and inquiries.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the CVB and staff – including development and implementation of
the bureau’s strategic plan; management of multiple projects
simultaneously; develop and implement annual budget and marketing plans;
staff development: plan and implement procedures and programs to achieve CVB goals.
Promote Brown County as a travel destination for individuals and groups
through marketing, the Visitors’ Center, events, networking, and community
involvement.
Work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure a fiscally sound operation.
Develop and implement annual budget and marketing plans. Work with
bookkeeper to update and finalize necessary monthly and annual financial reports and filings.
Attend, participate, plan, and present updates at relevant monthly meetings
with the Brown County Convention and Visitors Commission (“CVC”), the
CVB Board Executive Committee, and the CVB Board of Directors – Compile
monthly reports and providing marketing and financial updates to the CVC
and CVB Board; Meet with CVB Board Executive Committee to discuss CVB
activities and needs; Coordinate and draft agenda for the monthly CVB
Board meeting with the CVB Board Chair.
Serve as a liaison for hotels, restaurants, artists, the outdoor community,
and other interested stakeholders – Maintain communications with the local
tourism industry (hotels, restaurants, museums, festivals, arts, cycling
events, bike rallies, athletic events, etc.) and assist as necessary and
reasonable.
Work with the Town of Nashville and Brown County officials to keep them
aware of the tourism industry and its impact on the community, and with
legislators to keep them aware of the tourism industry and its impact on the
community.
Serve as the official spokesperson for the CVB for any media inquiries and
work to develop a positive relationship with local and statewide media.
Manage CVB building, maintenance, and tenant needs.
Perform other duties as needed.
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, tourism, hospitality, or related fields
preferred. - At least 5 years direct leadership experience with demonstrated results preferred.
- Demonstrated marketing experience with a strong understanding of
marketing concepts, including but not limited to graphic design, advertising campaigns and destination marketing organizations. - Experience in the hospitality/tourism industry required.
- Residency within Brown County is highly preferred, but applicants living in
Monroe, Johnson, Bartholomew, and Jackson counties will be considered. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentations.
and public speaking. - Proficient in the use of computers and other office equipment, including, MS
Office Suite, Windows, and macOS. - Ability to relate positively with employees, board members, clients, local and
state hospitality partners as well as local, county and state officials. - Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
- Ability to travel on behalf of the CVB.
- Ability to think analytically and critically.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
