In addition to quaint overnight accommodations, Nancy explained that guests can kick back and relax in one of many comfy sitting areas throughout the house or head outside to enjoy the home’s decks, rocking chairs, and fire pit. There’s also a huge DVD collection for guests and plenty of puzzles and games available in the fireplace room, one of the most popular spots in the house. And after seeing it in person, I completely understand why! One look at the large fireplace that makes up an entire wall of the room and I can only imagine how warm and pleasant it is with a big fire glowing.
“Everyone loves this room,” she said. “People come out here to unwind and it’s just so peaceful that they never want to leave.”
The pampering continues, as each morning guests can expect a wonderful country breakfast served in the Gathering Room. From eggs and fruit to pancakes and French toast, Nancy whips up a delicious meal every morning, guaranteed to give her guests the boost of energy they need to start their day.
“I prepare all kinds of dishes that I think people will like,” she explained. “One thing’s for sure…people are going to be full when they leave from breakfast.”
There’s also an endless supply of coffee, tea, cocoa, sodas and snacks in the Country Kitchen that are always up for grabs. Whether it’s popcorn to go along with a movie or hot chocolate by the fireplace, there is something for everyone.
“We really want our guests to feel comfortable,” she explained. “All the common rooms can be used by our visitors and we encourage them to do so.”
As if all that wasn’t enough, they even have live music on Saturday nights for their guests. Local musicians stop by for some evening entertainment in the Gathering Room…and give guests a little taste of the hometown culture and talent!
“Whether it’s spending time in their room, playing games, reading, chatting, or listening to our live music, we just want guests to be able to spend time together,” Nancy explained. “After all, that’s what they came here for in the first place.”
She hopes that her guests are able to create their own memorable experiences during their stay. “Our guests may spend the day shopping in town, visiting the State Park, or enjoying the 1875 Homestead B&B,” she said. “The most important thing for people to do here is relax. It’s all about escaping everyday life and recharging.”
After getting the grand tour of the property, I think it’s safe to say that 1875 Homestead is a true getaway. Even if it’s only for a couple of days, this bed and breakfast lets you leave the hustle and bustle of the world behind for a much calmer, serene lifestyle.
With six beautiful rooms, 1875 Homestead has plenty of different overnight options to choose from, each with its own unique décor and ambiance. Three rooms, Dogwood, Yellowwood, and Redbud, are located in the original farm house, which also includes all of the B&B’s common areas. Meanwhile, 1875’s other three rooms can be found in the property’s newer addition. Sycamore, Oak, and Maple Leaf each have their own separate entrances.
Nancy explained how this Inn is great for guests. “They can stay in the original rooms and they’ll be right in the middle of things, which is your more traditional bed and breakfast feel,” she said. “Or, if guests are looking for more seclusion and privacy they can choose the newer addition with larger rooms.”
The best of both worlds (B&B and hotel-style), 1875 Homestead has a room for any and every type of individual who may visit. All of their rooms have their own bath, sitting area, TV, DVD player and free WIFI. Some even have fireplaces and two-person jetted tubs! While you’ll find cool antiques in every room, the size of the bed varies. Rooms in the original farm house feature queen beds, whereas the rooms in the newer addition have king beds.
