Dixie Ferrer has always embraced nature and the tactile environment it offers. An ethereal interpretation of the “spirit of life” is evident in her work. She uses a unique layering process in her paintings that combines a variety of painting, drawing, printmaking, and photography techniques with handmade papers and collage materials.
Dixie’s art studio is located in Brown County about 8 miles from Nashville, 10 miles from Bloomington, close to Yellowwood State Forest, Yellowwood Lake and the Brown County State Park. She is an enthusiastic teacher who brings out the best in each of her students! Contact Dixie for private or group lessons at ddferrer@att.net. Studio is open by appointment; please call or email in advance.
What are Dixie’s lessons like?
Enjoy an intimate art experience in her charming studio at the “edge of the woods.” It is the perfect activity for your Brown County visit with self, family, friends or special groups. Those visiting will be offered the opportunity to release their creativity and explore a variety of techniques used in mixed media collage. Meander through the woods, or spend time rocking on the porch to take your creativity beyond. The end goal will be a personal collage to take home.
Dixie can custom design the perfect artistic “play time” for groups of up to seven. The length of the workshops can be tailored to fit your time schedule. Be prepared for some free-spirited splashing, spraying, splattering and giggles.
One of her favorite activities to facilitate is two days, four hours each day, with a lunch furnished the first day. That gives plenty of time for exploring, sharing, playing and finishing that special art piece.
