Between bachelorette trips, getting together with college friends, reunions with childhood BFFs, and “friendcations,” group trips are a-plenty in my current stage of life. These getaways offer a way to catch up in real life (not just through social media) and experience a new place with your people! Nothing compares to the joy of seeing your best pals in person and sharing some good ol’ quality time.

… But reality always sets in when those five words appear in the group chat: “We should plan a trip.” Because as with any friend gathering, not only does it cost money, but someone’s gotta plan the whole thing. And if you’re reading this blog, it’s probably you.

Deciding on the who, what, when, and where to fit everyone’s schedule and budget can be a daunting task—and depending on the size and personality of your friend group—might even seem impossible. But lucky for you, Brown County is a perfect (and affordable) group destination, located right here in the Midwest.

After personally planning a trip with a group of friends in Brown County, I’ll share with you the two biggest reasons why your next group trip should be in Brown County, Indiana:

1.) BETTER TOGETHER: Brown County cabins are built for quality time.

Spending an entire weekend in a cabin with your group of friends is an inexpensive and wholesome way to bond with your buddies, make memories, and unplug. Roasting s’mores under the stars. Life chats while chillin’ in the hot tub. Fresh-brewed coffee on the porch at sunrise with your bestie by your side.

In Brown County, where you book your place to stay is about more than just where you will sleep. It can define the entire trip! And sometimes hanging out in a cabin surrounded by your friends is literally all you need.

So once you find the perfect cabin for your group, you could stop your trip planning there—especially if you’re ballin’ on a budget. With Brown County’s enormous selection of places to stay, you’ll find a wide range of options to accommodate groups of almost any size.

2.) CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE: There are endless possibilities for things to do!

With a large group, it can be difficult to agree on a travel destination that has something for everyone and fits every price range. But in Brown County, you can go from the thrill of mountain biking to the peacefulness of a local art gallery, and stumble across live music on a street corner—all in the same day! (Imagine what you could do in an entire weekend!)

Here are some of my favorite ideas for putting together your Brown County adventure:

  • Book an experience at Hard Truth Hills Distillery, like a whiskey tasting, distillery tour, or a group mixology class! (with experiences ranging from $20 to $100)
  • Cross a state park off your bucket list and visit Brown County State Park for some hiking and spectacular scenic views.
  • Walk through Downtown Nashville, where you can window shop, grab an iced coffee or handmade sweet treat, pop into local boutiques, book shops, and art studios, and more!
  • Visit one of Brown County’s local wineries—many offer free tastings!
  • Discover some perfectly picturesque photo op spots for your post-trip Instagram photo dump!
  • Plus, it’s just a short drive away from Indiana University in Bloomington. So if you or your friends are alumni—Go Hoosiers!—you can take a trip down memory lane.

Friend vacations create the memories that you’ll reminisce about one day when you and your friends are old and gray. Don’t let the stress of planning hold you back! Plan your next group trip in Brown County … it practically plans itself.
