Intro to Cyanotype Photography with Bridget Conn

Cyanotype is one of the oldest forms of photography, dating back to 1842. In this workshop, we will learn how contemporary artists still use this light-sensitive chemistry to make beautiful blue prints on mixed media paper, and on other surfaces of the participant’s choosing. The technique will be a simple process using found objects and drawings which are exposed on the paper in sunlight and developed in running water.

All required materials will be included, though participants could consider bringing 1) different types of paper for experimentation or small pieces of light-colored fabric; 2) flat objects that can be placed under glass or drawings on paper or mylar. Participants should be at least 18 years of age.

Specializing in light-printing processes, local artist Bridget Conn will guide you through the process of creating your own cyanotype photography. Join us in the heart of downtown Nashville for this approachable and hands-on workshop– the first of it’s kind here at Second Story Studio!
