38th Great Outdoor Art Contest
See artists at work during Indiana’s oldest plein air painting competition! Painters from throughout the state will draw inspiration from the grounds that inspired impressionist T.C. Steele during this daylong celebration of the arts.
Artists may arrive as early as 7 a.m. All artists must bring a blank canvas or pages for stamping at check-in. Judging will begin at 2 p.m. and awards will be announced at 3:30 p.m.
Early bird registration for participating artists opens on Aug. 1 with discounted rates ($15/adult, $10/youth). General registration begins on Sept. 1. Day-of registration is welcome (September rates: $20/adult, $15/youth).
This competition is outdoors, rain or shine! All ages and experience levels welcome! Adult and Youth categories for judging, all participants supply their own materials and display apparatus.
General public day pass for the grounds to see the contest: $5/person. Tours of the historic buildings at 10:15 and 1:15 are $12/adult; $10/senior; and $7/youth–grounds and contest included in tour fee. No 3:15 tour on contest day.
Brownie’s restaurant will offer lunch for sale in the Visitor Center–no ATM, please bring cash to purchase!
The Great Outdoor Art Contest is part of Brown County Art Colony Weekend, Sept. 11-13.
