Mountain Tea State Forest is a big, beautiful forest in Indiana with over 1,100 acres of land to explore! Even though there aren’t any built-up recreation areas, there are still lots of fun things to do.
You can enjoy:
- Hiking off the trails
- Looking for mushrooms
- Watching wildlife like birds and deer
- Hunting (with the right permits)
This land used to be farms and pastures, but now it’s full of trees like oak, hickory, and other hardwoods. It became part of the Indiana State Forest system in 2013, with help from the Forest Legacy Program, which helps protect forests for the future.
Mountain Tea is also helping with the ForestIN program, which is planting 1 million trees by 2025!
It’s located about 6 miles from Nashville and 10 miles from Columbus, Indiana. If you love nature, this is a great place to explore!
