If you are anything like me, packing can be a struggle, especially for a once-in-a-lifetime event like the Total Solar Eclipse in Brown County! So, I thought I would share my packing list for the long weekend of April 8th, 2024!Â
- Clothing:
- Comfortable casual wear for daytime activities like hiking, exploring, or attending outdoor events.
- Light layers for changing weather conditions.
- Warm jacket or sweater for cooler evenings and nights.
- Rain jacket or poncho in case of rain.
- Sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots for outdoor activities.
- Accessories:
- Sunscreen to protect your skin during daytime activities.
- Hat or cap for sun protection.
- Insect repellent to ward off bugs, especially if you’ll be outdoors in the evening.
- Battery-powered radio for staying updated on weather conditions or emergency broadcasts.
- Personal Items:
- Toiletries and personal hygiene items.
- Medications or any necessary medical supplies.
- Hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes for hygiene.
- First aid kit for minor injuries.
- Toilet paper for restroom needs.
- Eclipse Viewing Essentials
- Eclipse glasses or solar viewing filters to safely observe the eclipse.
- Portable chairs or blankets for comfortable seating during the eclipse.
- Food and Drink:
- Snacks for outdoor activities and during the eclipse.
- Plenty of water to stay hydrated throughout the day.
- If camping or staying in a remote area, consider bringing easy-to-prepare meals or snacks.
- Miscellaneous:
- Download a Map or GPS device for navigation, especially if exploring the area.
- Cash for any purchases or emergencies.
- Portable phone charger or power bank to keep your devices charged.
