Opening a bike shop has been co-owner Kate Nolan’s dream for over 10 years. For Kate and her wife Danielle, the dream came true when they opened Brown County Bikes (BCB) this past week. BCB is the only bike shop in downtown Nashville, which is home to the Brown County State Park. The park boasts over 28 miles of pristine mountain biking trails and attracts over 3 million visitors to this small town every year.

The mountain bike focused shop offers two innovative bike brands for sale, Norco and Transition. Apparel and accessories from companies like HandUP, Troy Lee Designs, FOX, Five Ten, Crank Brothers, Industry Nine, Club Ride, Sock Guy, and One Optic are available for purchase. Additional brands such as Wild Rye and Shredly will be added Spring 2021.

Not to be forgotten is the mountain biker’s need for coffee. BCB has partnered with local coffee roaster Side Track to craft their own Costa Rican dark roast called Send It, which has gotten rave reviews. The roasted beans will only be available for purchase at the bike shop.

Other shop offerings include full service/repair, rental bikes, guided tours, professional coaching and clinics for all skill levels and ages.
Also, on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month at 6pm, BCB hosts a women’s mountain bike group ride in the state park.

Starting businesses that encourages outdoor adventure is nothing new for Kate and Danielle. They have been running DNK Presents since 2014 and was named Brown County Business of the Year in 2019.

“We couldn’t be more excited to open Brown County Bikes. This is a town we loved so much we moved here 2 years ago to raise our family and grow our business,” stated Danielle Wolter Nolan. “Nashville and the surrounding area were void of a full-service bike shop since the last one closed two years ago. Kate and I are honored to be able to fill that need for the community and visitors.”

BCB occupies the only retail space in the Brown County Barn Burner Building located at 185 S. Jefferson Street in Nashville, IN. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be at the shop with Brown County Chamber of Commerce on Friday, Nov. 6th at 5:30pm and the grand opening on Saturday, Nov. 7th. Both events are open to the public and all are invited to attend.
