We’ve got some big news…we’re going all out for Halloween this year! There’s no denying it, Halloween is a fun holiday for everyone…kids and adults alike. That’s exactly why we’re super excited there’s a monster week of festivities to celebrate it!

Calling all zombies, mummies, goblins, and ghouls…get ready for some spooktacular fun as Brown County will transform into Halloween Town, October 26-31! Love Halloween? Read on my friends to discover all the scary shenanigans you can expect to find later this month.

Halloween Town Kick Off & Zombie Parade – October 26

Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 26…a full day of Halloween fun is on the docket, including a cool Zombie Walk & Parade! From noon until midnight, there will be several events going on in the Village (and beyond) that are sure to send chills down your spine.

Start your day with a stop at Halloween Town headquarters: Coachlight Square. Where? Directly behind the Visitors Center on the south end of the Village. Besides eerie Halloween decorations and a massive pumpkin display, you’ll find some awesome makeup artists ready to get you zombified! Take a seat and be transformed into your favorite frightening Halloween character or go simple with classic zombie-style makeup. Either way, after a visit to the face painting booth, you’ll be ready to walk in the Zombie Parade! While you’re getting doctored up, watch old school horror flicks on the big screen or learn some dance moves to use later in the parade flash mob! You also can get your face painted on the North end of town too! Pay a visit to the North End Shops/Hidden Valley Inn area for both face painting and a fun bounce house! Coachlight Square and North End festivities will take place from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Let your pup get in on the Halloween action too! There will be a Pet Costume Contest at 3 p.m. at Polly’s Dog Park. Just when you think those furry friends can’t get any cuter, we dare you to put them in funny Halloween costumes! Besides the chance for your pupper to win prizes, it’s a great way to check out Brown County’s brand-new dog park. After the contest, stick around and let your doggo strut his/her stuff in the Zombie Parade!

Now for the main event! The creepy, crawly, and oh-so-strange Zombie Walk & Parade will take place at 5 p.m. in the heart of the Village. Simply watch on the sidelines to get spooked or join in the fun! Everyone is encouraged to dress up in true zombie fashion and walk alongside other ghoulish guests during this participatory parade down Van Buren Street. The more, the scarier! Keep your eyes peeled for zombie bikers, the headless horseman, old rat rods, a fun flash mob, Halloween royalty, and more!

The spookiness will continue after the parade with ghost stories at Coachlight Square at 6 p.m. From local legends to well-known tales, huddle around and listen to some scary stories! Don’t worry…it won’t be too hair-raising. All ages are welcome, including kids!

There’s also Fear Run at Deer Run! This haunted trail and barn sitting just outside the downtown Village is sure to give you a fright. Enter at your own risk any time after 8 p.m.!

Looking for some Halloween parties? We’ve got three for you! Head to the new Brown County Music Center for a live concert by Here Come the Mummies! This high-energy band (dressed like mummies of course) will get you in the Halloween spirit. Keep the fun going after the show with a night of dancing at the Monster Mash After Party!

You can also make your way out to the Story Inn for the annual Blue Lady Bash or stay in town for the Big Busted Halloween Bash. You’ll find live music, food and drink specials, and costume contests at both places!

Whew! That’s a whole lot of Halloween. And that’s just the kickoff day!

Throughout the Week…

More Halloween Town festivities will continue throughout the week leading up to the 31st! What scary things do we have shakin’?

For starters, some classic Halloween movies at the Playhouse. You can catch two showings of Beetlejuice on October 27 or the always-popular Rocky Horror Picture Show on October 30 and 31! Make your night out even more fun by dressing up like your favorite character!

Learn some chilling local legends during the Harvest Moon Tales & Lore Walking Tour on October 29 and 31! Gather around the outdoor fire pit at the Visitors Center to hear the superstitions and lore of the Brown County hills. Then, hit the streets to visit the sites where these infamous stories took place!

Oh yeah, there’s also Killer Cocktails, a murder mystery mixology experience, on October 30 and 31! Head to Hard Truth Hills for a unique night of drinks, debauchery, and discovery. Do you have what it takes to crack the case?!

Halloween Night – October 31

The monster lineup of events continues! Bring the kiddos to downtown Nashville for an evening of spooktacular fun and sweet treats. That’s right, this year there is going to be trick or treating in the Village! Shops, restaurants, and hotels will be passing out candy from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Skip out on the normal neighborhoods and come to Brown County for a real Halloween Town experience!

While you’re out and about, stop by the Village Pavilion on the corner of Main and Jefferson Streets in the Village for ghost stories and a bonfire! Nothing says Halloween like some terrifying tales. Take a break and warm up by the fire starting at 7 p.m. Don’t worry, our local storytellers won’t be serving up too scary of stories…this is a totally kid-friendly event!

Be sure to pay a visit to the nearby Salt Creek Trail while you’re here. There you’ll find even more trick or treating! Get ready for some major sugar overload that the kids are sure to love! There also will be a shuttle service running to make hitting up both spots even easier.

Hard Truth Hills also will be hosting a fun pumpkin painting event on Halloween night…candy included of course!

Well there you have it…one heck of a Halloween, brought to you by Brown County! Experience Halloween Town for yourself and get ready for a ghoulishly good time!
