The Brown County Convention & Visitors Bureau (BCCVB) was established in 1984. Its purpose is to promote and develop the meetings and tourism resources of Brown County, Indiana.
The BCCVB is unlike a typical convention and visitors bureau in that it is not a membership-based organization. This structure allows the CVB staff to focus attention on destination marketing rather than meeting the needs of individual members. The CVB welcomes participation by businesses that enhance the visitor experience.
Presently, the convention and tourism industry in Brown County generates more than $111 million in direct tourist expenditures as well as 2,015 jobs for residents.
The Brown County Convention & Visitors Bureau (BCCVB) has over 20 years experience in destination marketing and management. It recognizes fully that tourism promotions begin with an appropriate destination product, and that partnerships and related efforts would be forgone without a united approach to developing and marketing Brown County/Nashville as a visitor destination.
To successfully attract visitor expenditures, careful planning, marketing, management and significant cooperation and support must occur among stakeholders. The BCCVB makes decisions based on principles of partnership, cooperation and mutually beneficial alliances.
At every step of business and market development, there is a reflection of the basic BCCVB philosophy, mission statement and strategic goals as they relate to key industry priorities, and BCCVB partners and professional staff strive to implement key strategic marketing directions that will:
- Reinforce "The Art Colony of the Midwest" brand;
- Deliver a strong image of a safe, clean and attractive destination in all markets;
- Emphasize personal sales;
- Provide special interest packages to increase the length of stay and revenue in the destination; increase tourism demand in the off season and mid week;
- Improve on evaluating programs to facilitate the reporting of accurate and timely performance measurement and benchmarking.
To assemble new strategic alliances and strengthen current partnerships to diversify market segments and business development. The search for new sales and visitor spending will remain a priority.
